COMPANY BRIEF
ZMK and its sister company PARKS LANDSCAPE DESIGN known as PLD are an internationally renowned landscape architecture firm that specializes in integrating the disciplines of art, architecture and landscape to extend conventional notions of landscape architecture and provide meaning to the environment.
ZMK/PLD was initially established in 1989, in London UK. Then moved on to base its headquarters in Beirut, Lebanon. The corporation offers comprehensive Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Corporate, Master Planning to Civic, Institutional, Commercial, Touristic and Residential Clients.
SPECIALIZATION
We consider landscape and architecture as two modes of the same visual and spatial continum. Working with displacements within a rational order, we introduce metaphorical themes and the layering of history in order to create resonant spaces. The design of each place evolves from its cultural and physical environment and its geography, ecology and in history simultaneously.
The inputs and desires of the client are our primary concern. Technical expertise and aesthetic sensitivity are complemented by an interest in the symbolic nature of the built environment, and a commitment to create landscape that fulfills the needs of the client.
The working experience lies on a wide range of projects, in the Middle east, Europe and the U.S. These include new town developments, resorts, housing projects, campuses, public spaces and private residential homes for high profile people.
FOUNDER
Zina Majdalani Khabbaz (ZMK) is the FOUNDER and CEO of ZMK LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS and PARKS LANDSCAPE DESIGN. Zina graduated from CORNELL UNIVERSITY, Ithaca, New York in 1986, in Landscape Architecture and went on to London to sharpen her skill within British Firms. When Zina felt confident enough to start her own practice, she went on to open her own little office in London contracting mostly residential projects and sub-consulting larger projects for well-known landscape architectural firms. Geographical move was strongly recommended to interact harmoniously with close neighboring clients in the Middle East. To this effect, Zina moved her office and premises to Beirut, Lebanon to become the base office for the Dubai, and Doha offices. Zina is currently heading a team of landscape architects,
